Birthday Wishlist 2017

It’s that time of year again!  Two weeks to go and I am another year older. To be honest though I am not all that excited about my birthday this year. I am working that whole weekend so that is probably the main contributor.  But what they hey, one way to get amped is to put a wishlist together and even if you don’t get anything off the list it’s still fun to put together.

2017 Birthday Wishlist

So let’s get into the good stuff shall we?

1. NYX ULTIMATE SHADOW PALETTE – WARM NEUTRALS (CLICKS)

It has been a while since I added to my eyeshadow collection. I am always looking out for that perfect palette that has a good balance of matte and shimmer, light and dark shades and this palette looks like a winner!

2. BENEFIT HIGH BEAM LIQUID HIGHLIGHTER (EDGARS)

This is one of those hyped up products that I have always thought about splurging on but never took the plunge.  Mainly because I can’t justify having a highlighter as one of the most expensive product in my makeup collection.  But that’s the point of a wishlist and also, they make them in these cute mini sizes now so I don’t think it’s too cheeky of an ask.

3.  REVLON COLOURSTAY GEL ENVY TOP COAT (DISCHEM/CLICKS)

I have been really getting into doing my nails over the last couple of months so I have been paying

4. CUT OUT METALLIC PURSE (WOOLWORTHS)

This is just pretty – light pink and rose gold? Yes please!

5. DAWN OF GARDENIA SHOWER GEL (THE BODY SHOP)

I have this in the Eau de Parfume and it is one of my favourites. I may not pay that much attention but I am fairly sure that they didn’t have a shower gel in this range before but yay for me that they do now!

6. VIRGIN MOJITO SHOWER GEL (THE BODY SHOP)

Another winning fragrance from The Body Shop here – so light and fresh.   I know it’s another shower gel but I am so bad with using body butters and creams that it is such a waste to by them.

7. ROBBIE WILLIAMS VARIOUS CDS

This is a bit of a random addition to the wish list but I have always wanted to have a complete collection of Robbie CDs (yes I know – old school). The ones I don’t have are the first four

  • Life Thru a Lens
  • I’ve Been Expecting You
  • Sing When You’re Winning
  • The Ego Has Landed

8. ROBBIE WILLIAMS – REVEAL

This is the second official biography for Robbie Roo and it needs to be added to my collection. Am I expecting this to be a great book? – Not really but hey that’s what being a fan is all about. I don’t even know if this will be available in South Africa actually!

DIY “Wearable” Rainbow Highlight

It took a couple of months but I have adjusted to having some free time on weekends again (I’ll talk about that in another post) and this blog is in dire need of some of my undivided attention.   So I know I am way behind the times with this but it is an idea that has been sitting in my drafts for over six months and I finally decided I had procrastinated enough.  So here is my own take on a DIY Rainbow Highlighter. Birthday Wishlist 2016

My birthday is a month away and I love it! Mostly because I get to gather all my favourite people together in one place and have fun.  I’m not gonna lie, I like getting gifts too but most of the things that I want are on the expensive side.   I am that person that walks into a store and out of all the options I will always pick up the one that costs the most. What can I say, it’s not my fault I have certain tastes 😛

Anyway, I had a bit of fun dreaming of some things that I would like to receive at some point in life.  Some are a bit more realistic than others so here’s hoping!

English Dawn Gardenia Perfume (Body Shop) – Every time I walk into The Body Shop I spritz a bit of this on and fall in love.  I have never been a huge fan of floral fragrances but this hits all the right notes.

Lush Golden Wonder Bath Ballistic (Christmas Collection) – This was the first thing I ever bought from Lush and I was so upset when I realised it wasn’t available throughout the year. Bonus tip: Anything from Lush is actually a winner for a birthday present 😉

Foreo Luna Mini – I want to up my game in my skincare routine and I think this will do the trick.  Definitely a pipe dream but that’s why this is a wishlist.

Skin Creamery Face Cleansing Powder – I love both the facial oil and cream from this brand so I have high hopes for this product.

Real Techniques brushes – I have slowly been adding these to my make up brush collection so the more the merrier!

Nike Tanjun Printed Grey – There is something about the cool grey and the print that speaks to me, hopefully one day they will be mine.

Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel  – This is a product that I have watched various Youtubers rave about for years. Ah, a girl can dream…

P.S. To my family and friends, please don’t take these as hints.  I was just having some fun, can’t wait to celebrate with you all!

Drugstore Makeup – Eyes

SAM_1836.JPG

I have no idea where the last couple of weeks have gone!  I have had every intention to use my free time to sit down and write some posts and somehow said free time just vanishes.  The last few days I have managed to get some kind of order back into this blog and have planned posts for the upcoming weeks.  There are a couple that are a bit different to what I have done before but I am excited to expand a little bit. Right, without further ado, let’s get into it!

This post is a follow on from my Drugstore Favourites – Face Products post that I did a few weeks ago so if you missed that definitely go check it out!

Drugstore Makeup – Face Products

Pastels&Proteasblog0816a.JPG

Let me start this off with a disclaimer: No, you do not need ALL of the makeup listed in this blog.  This post is intended to inform those who walk down the makeup aisle thinking: “I have no idea where to begin”.  If you are just starting out with makeup or are looking to buy a few new products to play around with then keep on reading!

When I started getting into makeup there was a lot of trial and error, wasted money and draws full of poor quality cosmetics.  Before I started to read blogs and regularly watch Youtube videos,  I would be in front of a makeup stand with very little understanding of what I was actually looking for.  I would be easily swayed by pretty packaging or the celebrity that was used in the advertising – not that I never get influenced by those elements anymore but I would like to think I make more informed purchases these days!
